Distance Clinical Research Course & Its Importance
Introduction
Clinical
research industry is becoming an interesting and high demanding career for
pharmaceutical students. It is an arm of healthcare science which consists of
all the thorough study of human health and studies. Clinical research is also
known as medical research and it is subdivided into two type’s namely clinical
trial and clinical studies. The clinical
studies are conducted in many government as well as private institutes,
hospitals, universities, community clinics and doctor’s offices. Because of
opportunities in the Pharmacovigilance domain many science professionals are
switching their career to the clinical industry. Distance learning clinical research courses are also
available for such people.
Phases
of Clinical Research Trial
There are main phases of
clinical trials: Phase I, Phase II, Phase III and Phase IV. The four phases of
the drug approval process are separate clinical trials, and the entire process
typically takes eight to 10 years.
Phase I
In this phase the first
drug treatment is carried out on a small group of people. Investigator or a
scientist figure out the drug’s safety, determine a safe dosage range and
analyze its side effects.
Phase II
In phase II same procedure
is followed as phase one but the treatment is carried out for the large number
of people to observe its behavior and safety.
Phase III
The drug treatment is
conducted for larger group of people. In this phase scientists or observer
confirms effectiveness of a drug on particular disease, monitors its side
effects, compare with traditional treatments and gathers all the information
about the experiment so that the drug is been used safely in future.
Phase IV
Phase four deals with the
post marketing studies that are conducted after a treatment will be approved
for commercial use by FDA. Post marketing study includes all the required
information about the drug along with its hazards, profits and best usage.
Because of
increasing the scope for clinical research there is a need of trained and
qualified professionals in clinical research.
Types of Clinical Research Courses Available
There are
following types by which clinical research can be studied
Classroom Training on Clinical Research
It is the
training given in a particular institute, educational firm or in a college.
This type of training is very common method of training and it is proffered by
many students to start their career in this ever-growing clinical industry.
Distance Clinical Research Course
Distance
learning is training on particular domain according to candidate’s time
schedule or convenience. It is usually preferred by the people who are unable
to attend daily classes or lectures conducted in institutes. This distance
learning course is again subdivided into two types
Types of
Distance clinical research courses
The distance
courses in clinical research can be of two types mainly offline distance
learning course and online distance learning course.
Online Distance Clinical Research Course
In online
distance learning course the learning is wholly given on internet media. The
exam for the course can also conduct online sometimes. Students can complete
the clinical research training by simply
sitting in the home or from anywhere in the world. Candidates have to pay the
fees for course online and they will get their personal log in
credentials. Candidate has to study the
course by logging in to those particular credentials within a specified time
interval.
The only
disadvantage of this online course is candidates should have the internet
connection and medium to use that it can be tablet, mobile phone desktop or a
laptop.
Offline Distance Clinical Research Course
In offline
distance learning course the candidates get the whole study material for the
course after enrollment and the certification exam is conducted after
particular time span. The study material can be hard copy or a soft copy of the
syllabus; it varies according to the organization. The internet of things is not required in
this particular type. Students can study
anywhere after getting the study material.
